By kind permission of the owner, informal open access is provided to the Fron-lom woodland at a gateway to the Clwydian Range Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty near Nannerch.

There is no formal trail and you are free to roam in the wood during daylight hours. Picnic tables and limited roadside car parking are provided, from which there are views across the fly fishing lake at Walgoch. Please note that during the winter months cattle may be grazing in the woodland.

The woodland is located just after Walgoch Farm on the righthand side travelling from Nannerch.

Fly fishing at Walgoch

There are 1.4 hectares (3.5 acres) of water at Walgoch in a tranquil setting, providing fly fishing for rainbow and brown trout. All brown trout must be returned.

There is vehicle access to lakeside.

  • £12.00 5 hours, two fish
  • £17.00 7 hours, three fish
  • £22.00 day, four fish
  • £9.00 sport, 5 hours
  • Fish barbless after limit is caught

Located off the A541 Mold to Denbigh road at Nannerch. Follow the brown-and-white fly fishing signs from the main road.
